Please join teachers from across Iowa and the Midwest to learn more about serving gifted students at ITAG's 2025 Virtual Spring Workshop on Wednesday, April 16.

Featured speaker Andi McNair is currently a Digital Innovation and Gifted Education Specialist at ESC Region 12 in Waco, Texas. Before working at the center, she taught elementary and gifted/talented students at a small rural school in Texas. Andi was in the classroom for a total of 16 years before pursuing her passion to change education by giving educators practical ways to design experiences that will engage and empower today’s gifted learners.

Andi has spoken at many conferences, education service centers, and worked with many school districts to provide innovative learning experiences for their students. She was named one of the Top People in Education to Watch in 2016 by the Academy of Education Arts and Sciences. Andi has written Genius Hour Passion Projects that Ignite Innovation and Student Inquiry, A Meaningful Mess: A Teacher's Guide to Student-Driven Classrooms, Authentic Learning, Student Empowerment, and Keeping All Together  Without Losing Your Mind, Ready-to-Use Resources for Genius Hour in the Classroom: Taking Passion Projects to the Next Level, and Designing for Depth in the Classroom: A Framework for Purposeful Differentiation. She absolutely loves advocating for and helping educators find practical ways to serve and support gifted Learners.

Andi believes that the learners that we are educating today are unique and we must be creative in designing experiences that will leave an impression. After spending 16 years serving students as a classroom teacher, she now spends her career serving educators in a way that will make meeting the needs of gifted learners both manageable and meaningful.

This day-long workshop features topics on curiosity, creativity, and passion, three areas Andi is passionate about. This workshop will focus on strategies that have practical application within the general classroom, as well as deliverables that participants could use in their own settings.
